Our Access 2019 courses will give learners a comprehensive understanding of Access 2019, including how to design and create an Access database from scratch, and create and work with tables, queries, forms, and reports. We offer Access training for everyone from novices to power users.

Access 2019 ​Part 3

Access 2019 Part 3 is for learners who know how to create a database from scratch with a deep understanding of database relationships and queries, and who know how to create basic forms. This course will cover adding calculations to a form, disabling fields and adding screentips, creating and modifying a report, formatting and printing a report, setting Access options, splitting a database, creating a switchboard, creating a navigation form, setting a database password, and integrating Access with Word and Excel. 


To ensure success in this course, learners should have completed Access 2019 Part 1 and Part 2 or have equivalent knowledge and experience. Learners should also:

  • Be familiar with using personal computers
  • Have experience using a mouse and keyboard 
  • Be comfortable working in Windows
  • Know how to open and close applications
  • Know how to navigate basic file structures
  • Know how to manage files and folders

Learning Modules

301: Adding Calculations to a Form
For learners who know how to create a database, queries and basic forms, and wish to add calculated fields to a form and subform. In this module, learners will sum line totals on a form, add a calculated field to a form, format a calculated control, add a calculated field to a subform, use the expression builder, and add the current date to a form.
302: Disabling Fields and Adding ScreenTips
For learners who know how to create a database, queries and forms, and wish to learn how to lock and disable form fields, and create control ScreenTips. In this module, learners will protect fields from being edited by locking and disabling them. Learners will also create descriptive onscreen messages for fields.
303: Creating and Modifying a Report
For learners who know how to create a database, queries and forms, and wish to learn how to create and modify basic reports. In this module, learners will create a report using the Report Wizard, explore report sections and controls, select a report layout and explore report views.
304: Formatting and Printing a Report
For learners who know how to create a database, queries, forms, and reports, and wish to apply advanced formatting to reports. In this module. In this module, learners will add a logo to the page header, add a report title, subtitle and format text, size, align, and format report controls, and apply a theme to a report.
305: Setting Access Options
For learners who know how to create a database, queries, forms, and reports, and wish to set Access options.    In this module, learners will explore Access options, modify the navigation pane, set database properties, set current database options and change datasheet settings and the color scheme.
306A: Splitting a Database
For learners who know how to create a database, queries, forms, and reports, and wish to split a database that several people share over a network. In this module, learners will back up the database and launch the Database Splitter to help improve database performance and reduce the chance of database file corruption by moving tables from the current database to new back-end database.
306B: Creating a Switchboard

For learners who know how to create a database, queries, forms, and reports, and wish to create a switchboard, an alternative to the Navigation Pane. In this module, learners will launch the switchboard manager and create a switchboard to help users navigate the database. Learners will also add a command button to the switchboard and set a startup form.
306C: Creating a Navigation Form and Setting a Database Password
For learners who know how to create a database, queries, forms, and reports, and wish to create a navigation form to make it easy for users to switch between the various forms and reports and password protect their database. In this module, learners will create a Navigation Form, add horizontal tabs, add items to the tabs, and edit tab titles. Learners will also add limited security to a database by encrypting it and setting a password.
308: Integrating With Word and Excel

For learners who know how to create a database, queries, forms, and reports, and wish to explore how to share Access data with other Microsoft Office programs, as well as how to format Access data for other systems and for the web. In this module, learners will integrate Access with Word, integrate Access with Excel, and display Access Data on the Web.

System Requirements

Learners' PCs should meet the following requirements: 

  • 2 GB of available hard disk space 
  • SVGA monitor at 1024 × 768 or higher resolution
  • A version of Windows support by Microsoft
  • The latest version of Chrome browser (preferred browser)

Dual Screens

For the best learning experience in our instructor-led training portal, we recommend learners use two screens for training.

  1. On the Remote Lab screen, learners will complete training exercises under the watchful eye of their instructor.
  2. On the Virtual Classroom screen, learners will see and hear their instructor as they follow the instructor's step-by-step directions. The virtual classroom screen can be a big screen in a conference room or a learner's second monitor.
