Excel 2019 ​Part 2

Excel 2019 Part 2 builds upon the knowledge presented in Part 1 and helps start learners down the road to creating advanced workbooks & worksheets that can help deepen their understanding of Excel. This course will cover advanced formatting, conditional formatting, introduction to Excel functions, IF statements, combining and separating text, working with dates, working with outlines, using VLOOKUP and using Excel's Quick Analysis tools. 


To ensure success in this course, learners should have completed Excel 2019 Part 1 or have equivalent knowledge and experience. Learners should also:

  • Be familiar with using personal computers
  • Have experience using a mouse and keyboard 
  • Be comfortable working in Windows
  • Know how to open and close applications
  • Know how to navigate basic file structures
  • Know how to manage files and folders

201: Troubleshooting Formulas
For learners who know how to read and write formulas and wish to troubleshoot them. In this module, learners will learn how to use Excel's Formula Auditing tools to troubleshoot formulas, and understand and resolve formula errors.
202: Advanced Formatting
For learners who wish to learn how to use advanced workbook formatting and custom number formats. In this module, learners will learn how to apply advanced formatting to a workbook, rotate text in cells, merge cells, use format painter, apply themes and styles, and modify number formatting.

203A: Conditional Formatting, Part 1
For learners who wish to learn how to apply Conditional Formatting to cells that meet specific criteria. In this module, learners will learn how to use Excel's built-in conditional formatting options to format cells that meet a set of criteria.
203B: Conditional Formatting, Part 2
For learners who know how to use and apply Excel's built-in Conditional Formatting options. In this module, learners will learn how use formulas to apply conditional formatting to format cells that meet a set of criteria.
204A: IF Statements, Part 1
For learners who are comfortable reading and writing formulas in Excel and wish to write simple IF statements. In this module, learners will learn how to use the IF function to determine the value of a cell based on the outcome of a logical test.
204B: IF Statements, Part 2
For learners who know how to write simple IF statements and wish to write conditional IF statements. In this module, learners will learn how to write IF statements using the SUMIF, COUNTIF, and AVERAGEIF functions. Learners will also learn how to create IF statements with multiple criterion using the SUMIFS and COUNTIFS functions.
205: Combining and Separating Text

For learners who wish to learn how to combine and split data in cells. Learners should be comfortable reading and writing formulas in Excel. In this module, learners will learn how to combine data from multiple cells, split data to multiple cells, and use Flash Fill. This module will also cover the LEFT, LEN and CONCATENATE functions.
206: Working With Dates

For learners who wish to learn how to perform calculations on dates. In this module, learners will learn how to apply custom date functions, make date and time entries, calculate the difference between two dates, and use basic date functions.
207: Groups, Outlines, and the Subtotal Dialog Box
For learners who wish to learn how to create outlines and use the Subtotal dialog box to organize data. In this module, learners will learn how to hide detail data using the outline feature to group related information together which can be useful for quickly calculating subtotals and totals.
208: Using VLOOKUP and Quick Analysis
For learners who wish to learn how to use the VLOOKUP function to find data in a table or a range by row. Learners should be comfortable reading and writing formulas in Excel. In this module, learners will learn how to use VLOOKUP to lookup information arranged in columns and adjust worksheet data with Quick Analysis.

System Requirements

Learners' PCs should meet the following requirements: 

  • 2 GB of available hard disk space 
  • SVGA monitor at 1024 × 768 or higher resolution
  • A version of Windows support by Microsoft
  • The latest version of Chrome browser (preferred browser)

Dual Screens

For the best learning experience in our instructor-led training portal, we recommend learners use two screens for training.

  1. On the Remote Lab screen, learners will complete training exercises under the watchful eye of their instructor.
  2. On the Virtual Classroom screen, learners will see and hear their instructor as they follow the instructor's step-by-step directions. The virtual classroom screen can be a big screen in a conference room or a learner's second monitor.

Instructor-led Portal System Check

Our system check will check the readiness of your learners' browser, internet connectivity, screen resolution, microphone and camera. The test link will be provided to you prior to your class.
