PowerPoint 2019 ​Part 1

This introductory course will equip new students with an overview of Microsoft PowerPoint 2019, providing a beginner level foundation of the application. This course will cover creating and delivering a presentation, designing and printing the presentation, adding graphics, animation, and sound, and adding charts and SmartArt to a presentation.

Learning Modules

101A: Creating a Presentation
For learners who wish to learn how to create and display a basic PowerPoint presentation consisting of multiple slides and bulleted text. In this module, learners will learn how to create a new presentation, add text to slides, apply themes, add slides, and control the indent of bulleted text.
101B: Delivering a Presentation
For learners who know how to create a presentation and wish to learn how to deliver a presentation. In this module, learners will learn how to navigate a slide show.
102A: Designing the Presentation
For learners who know how to create and deliver a presentation and wish to learn how to build on the fundamental design of a basic presentation and examine printing options. In this module, learners will learn how to use Outline view to create, move, and delete slides and edit text, create a presentation from a Microsoft Word outline, format and align text and adjust character spacing and line spacing, use Slide Sorter view and Sections, and print a presentation.
102B: Printing the Presentation
For learners who wish to learn how to examine PowerPoint's printing options. In this module, learners will learn how to print a presentation.
103A: Adding Graphics to a Presentation
For learners who know how to design and deliver a presentation and wish to learn how to enhance a presentation that currently includes only text. Learners will use pictures to add interest to the presentation, drawing objects to add spark. In this module, learners will learn how to add pictures, screenshots, and shapes to a presentation, remove backgrounds and apply artistic effects to slide images, and add transition effects to a slide show.
103B: Adding Animation to a Presentation
For learners who know how to design, deliver and add graphics to a presentation and wish to learn how to add slide transitions and animations to “bring the presentation to life.” In this module, learners will learn how to add transition effects to a slide show, and add animation to objects on a slide.
103C: Adding Sound Effects to a Presentation
For learners who know how to design, deliver and add graphics and animation to a presentation and wish to learn how to add audio clips and sound effects to accompany or accentuate your slide elements. In this module, learners will learn how to add sound effects to transitions and animations.
104: Adding SmartArt to a Presentation

For learners who know how to design, deliver and add graphics, animation and sound effects to a presentation and wish to learn how to use SmartArt to add a beautifully arranged organization chart that is clear, concise, and stylish. In this module, learners will learn how to create SmartArt diagrams.

System Requirements

Learners' PCs should meet the following requirements: 

  • 2 GB of available hard disk space 
  • SVGA monitor at 1024 × 768 or higher resolution
  • A version of Windows support by Microsoft
  • The latest version of Chrome browser (preferred browser)

Dual Screens

For the best learning experience in our instructor-led training portal, we recommend learners use two screens for training.

  1. On the Remote Lab screen, learners will complete training exercises under the watchful eye of their instructor.
  2. On the Virtual Classroom screen, learners will see and hear their instructor as they follow the instructor's step-by-step directions. The virtual classroom screen can be a big screen in a conference room or a learner's second monitor.

Instructor-led Portal System Check

Our system check will check the readiness of your learners' browser, internet connectivity, screen resolution, microphone and camera. The test link will be provided to you prior to your class.
