Microsoft Project 2019

Microsoft Project is a project management software product, developed and sold by Microsoft. It is designed to assist a project manager in developing a plan, assigning resources to tasks, tracking progress, managing the budget, and analyzing workloads.


To ensure success in this course, learners should have basic project management knowledge and skills. Additionally, learners should have competency in using other Microsoft Office applications, preferably Office 2019.

Project 2019 ​Part 1

This introductory course will equip new students with an overview of Microsoft Project 2019, providing a beginner level foundation of the application and prepare learners for Microsoft Project 2019 Part 2. This course will cover getting started with Microsoft Project, defining a project, creating and organizing tasks, managing project plan resources, and finalizing a project.


To ensure success in this course, learners should have basic project management knowledge and skills.

101: Getting Started With Microsoft Project
This lesson will cover how to identify project management concepts, and navigate the Microsoft Project 2019 environment. This module will begin with a brief review of basic project management concepts and cover the essentials learners need to navigate the Project interface.
102: Defining a Project

This lesson will cover how to create a new project plan, define a project, and assign a project calendar. In this module, learners will create a new project plan and identify options for creating a new plan, define the project level options and project description, and modify and assign project calendars.
103: Adding and Importing Tasks

This lesson will cover how to add tasks to a project plan and import tasks from other programs. In this module, learners will add tasks to the project plan, and import tasks from other programs such as Excel and SharePoint.
104: Organizing and Managing Tasks
This lesson will cover how to create a work breakdown structure, define task relationships, and schedule tasks. In this module, learners will create and modify a work breakdown structure and milestones, define relationships between tasks and describe task dependencies, and schedule tasks and manage constraints and deadlines.
105: Managing Project Plan Resources
This lesson will cover how to add resources to a project plan, create a resource calendar, enter costs for resources, assign resources to tasks, and resolve resource conflicts. In this module, learners will add resources to a project and assign them to tasks, create a calendar for a resource, enter costs for different types of resources, assign resources to tasks, and resolve resource conflicts in a project plan.
106: Finalizing a Project Plan
This lesson will cover how to optimize a project plan, set a baseline, and share a project plan. In this module, learners will optimize the project plan using the critical path, set the project baseline and describe how the baseline fields are used, and share the project plan with team members and stakeholders.

System Requirements

Learners' PCs should meet the following requirements: 

  • 2 GB of available hard disk space 
  • SVGA monitor at 1024 × 768 or higher resolution
  • A version of Windows support by Microsoft
  • The latest version of Chrome browser (preferred browser)

Dual Screens

For the best learning experience in our instructor-led training portal, we recommend learners use two screens for training.

  1. On the Remote Lab screen, learners will complete training exercises under the watchful eye of their instructor.
  2. On the Virtual Classroom screen, learners will see and hear their instructor as they follow the instructor's step-by-step directions. The virtual classroom screen can be a big screen in a conference room or a learner's second monitor.

Instructor-led Portal System Check

Our system check will check the readiness of your learners' browser, internet connectivity, screen resolution, microphone and camera. The test link will be provided to you prior to your class.
