Microsoft Power BI Data Analysis Professional

In this Power BI Desktop course, learners will learn to analyze data with Self-service BI, connect to data sources, perform advanced data modeling and shaping, visualize data with Power BI, enhance data analysis, model data with calculations, create interactive visualizations, perform advanced analysis, publish and share reports and dashboards, and extend access to Power BI.


This course is designed for professionals in a variety of job roles who are currently using desktop or web-based data-management tools such as Microsoft Excel or SQL Server reporting services to perform numerical or general data analysis. They are responsible for connecting to cloud-based data sources, then shaping and combining data for the purpose of analysis, and are looking for alternative ways to analyze business data, visualize insights, and share those insights with peers across the enterprise. This includes capturing and reporting on data to peers, executives, and clients.


To ensure success in this course, learners should have experience managing data with a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.


Learners should also:

  • Be familiar with using personal computers
  • Have experience using a mouse and keyboard 
  • Have basic end-user skills working with Windows
  • Know how to open and close applications

  • Know how to navigate basic file structures
  • Know how to manage files and folders
  • Have basic competence with Internet browsing
  • Have basic end-user skills with any or all of the Microsoft Office applications

103: Performing Advanced Data Modeling and Shaping
This module is for learners who know how to connect to data. In this module, learners will learn how to clean and transform data with the query editor, shape data with the query editor, and combine and manage data rows.
104: Visualizing Data with Power BI
This module is for learners who know how to perform advanced data modeling and shaping. In this module, learners will learn how to create visualizations in Power BI, and chart data in Power BI.
105: Enhancing Data Analysis

This module is for learners who know how to visualize data with Power BI. In this module, learners will learn how to enhance analysis with customized visuals and pages, and enhance analysis with tooltips.
106: Modeling Data with Calculations
This module is for learners who know how to enhance data analysis. In this module, learners will learn how to create calculations with data analysis expressions (dax), and create calculated measures and conditional columns.
107: Creating Interactive Visualizations
This module is for learners who know how to model data with calculations. In this module, learners will learn how to create and manage data hierarchies, filter and slice reports, and create dashboards in Power BI.
108: Performing Advanced Analysis
This module is for learners who know how to create interactive visualizations. In this module, learners will learn how to create calculated tables, variables, and parameters, enhance visuals with statistical analysis, and review analysis services connection options.
109: Publishing and Sharing Reports and Dashboards
This module is for learners who know how to perform advanced analysis. In this module, learners will learn how to publish reports, and share reports and dashboards.
110: Extending Access to Power BI
This module is for learners who know how to publish and share reports and dashboards. In this module, learners will learn how to access reports using Power BI mobile, and extend access with the Power BI API.

You will need one computer for each learner with the following configurations: 


  • The course application/version installed on each PC
  • 2 GB of available hard disk space 
  • SVGA monitor at 1024 × 768 or higher resolution
  • Windows 10 or later
  • The latest version of Chrome browser (preferred)
  • A shared network drive or SharePoint site
  • Internet access
  • Web camera and microphone

An instructor PC is also required for higher education training.

A projector system is required to display the instructor's computer screen

Web Access

Learners must be able to download the exercise files to their PCs from our website during training

Training Manual
